Celebrating Women with Gloria Steinam

DSC co-founders Wendy and Julie attended the play Gloria: A Life at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge. It was an inspiring experience to hear the impactful and personal story of Gloria Steinem told by an entire cast of women among an entire audience of women. We are reminded how many women work daily contributing to this ongoing movement of equality. DSC is with you!

Lyle Lovett Returns to The Umbrella with surprise guest Steve Miller

Country Superstar Lyle Lovett Returns to The Umbrella with surprise guest Steve Miller

The Umbrella Concert Series came full circle on Friday, October 25 in a surprise-filled performance by four-time Grammy winner Lyle Lovett. This was the tenth concert DSC organized for the Umbrella Community Arts Center. The event celebrated the opening of the renovated Umbrella, including the naming of the new main stage theater, Theater144.

It came as no surprise when Lovett’s return to The Umbrella Concert Series was announced that tickets sold out within days. When rock legend Steve Miller was discovered in the sold-out crowd and invited to join Lovett on stage for an impromptu two-song jam—the first time the two had ever performed together—the energy in the new state-of-the-art theater was palpable. Between songs, Lovett showed his appreciation for The Umbrella's arts mission in the region, emphasizing the importance of accessible art.

Over the last 5 years, The Umbrella Concert Series has raised funds for the new Umbrella Theater. This concert was a special celebration marking its completion!

Stay tuned for more concerts at the Umbrella!
