Youth Enrichment Services (YES)

Background

Youth Enrichment Services (YES) is a private nonprofit organization which provides Boston youth with leadership through active, outdoor experiences and adventures. Its holistic program supports the long-term success of participants in all aspects of their lives and seeks to develop the next generation of leaders who are prepared to achieve, lead and excel in college, career and life.

Project Scope

DSC was brought on board in 2013 to help YES accelerate its annual fundraising program. DSC developed a 3-year strategic fundraising plan plus, helped to revamp the organization’s board structure and to recruit a Board of Trustees which was committed to focus on fundraising. In addition, DSC redesigned the organization’s annual fundraising gala to fully engage community leaders, created a gala committee, and engaged existing and new donors to help with fundraising alongside YES staff and board members. Additionally, DSC recruited and manages a real estate committee, which is facilitating the organization’s real estate redevelopment by recruiting Boston’s top real estate leaders, establishing a feasibility study, researching opportunities, and gathering results for the board of directors.

Wendy Jacobs serves as the YES major gift officer and most recently has been tasked with spearheading the organization’s first capital campaign.

Project Results

In their second year with YES, DSC helped YES to increase its gala's revenue by 30%, to expand the Board of Trustees by seven new members - each donating $10,000 and to complete a real estate evaluation and planning project.

DSC has played a pivotal role in helping Youth Enrichment Services (YES) grow its fundraising revenue and establish a major gifts program. Wendy’s expertise in individual donors, major gifts, and relationship-building has been instrumental in helping YES not only reach - but surpass - its annual fundraising goals. Specifically, Wendy and her team have played a key role with regards to strategically expanding the organization’s leadership, growing its individual donor base, stewarding mid-level donors into major donors, and preparing the organization for its first capital campaign.
